Seems like after writing about lots of possible dupes for MAC Mehr and cool lip liner combos with Brick-o-La, I feel like writing about MAC products again.
I mean, I never really stopped, did I?
Quite a few of you guys reading what I write on The Working Line actually asked for possible lip liners for MAC Ruby Woo lipstick.
Not only that one, though.

First up, what is the MAC Ruby Woo lipstick?
It’s one of the most famous red lipsticks in the whole wide world.
A lot of different versions of the Ruby Woo lipstick have been released time and time again, with, for instance, one of my favorites (and discontinued red MAC lipsticks), Riri Woo.
It’s a very vivid blue-toned red lipstick.
And when I say blue-toned, I mean it.
It’s that kind of red lipstick that makes your teeth look whiter, and it’s the perfect MAC lipstick for olive skin, Indian skin, super dark and super pale skin.
Looking for MAC lipsticks for redheads?
That’s one of the best.
Or something for medium skin?
Also the one.
The only downside is its Retro Matte formula (or upside, depends on how you see it), since the Ruby Woo lipstick is far from being one of the most hydrating MAC lipsticks.
Actually, it’s super effin’ drying.
That’s why I would recommend coupling it with a good lip primer.
You can use the MAC Prep + Prime for lips, or use my favorite (and much cheaper option), the 3ina Lip Primer to make the application more comfortable.

Of course, one of the best MAC lip liners for the Ruby Woo lipstick is none other than the Ruby Woo lip liner.
Exactly the same color, to use if you don’t want to change the color of Ruby Woo and wear it as is.
Apply the Ruby Woo lipstick almost to the edges of the lips, and make the outline precise by using the Ruby Woo lip liner.
Easy, chic, and really one of the easiest MAC red lipstick and lip liner combos ever.

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Cherry Lip Liner
While the Ruby Woo lip liner is the most classic for those who want to wear the Ruby Woo lipstick, I prefer using the Cherry lip liner.
It’s also a blue-toned red lip liner, however, there’s something more interesting about this one than the Ruby Woo lip liner.
Maybe the fact it’s slightly – really slightly – darker.
That makes the Cherry lip liner amazing to wear on its own, too.
And I promise you, your teeth will look super white with that combo!

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Nightmoth Lip Liner
We’ve talked about the two classic MAC lip liners for the Ruby Woo lipstick, but if you want to try something different, I have options for you.
Most of these options will actually be darker, more purple or burgundy lip liners.
And the first one of these is the MAC Nightmoth lip liner.
It doesn’t match the Ruby Woo lipstick at all, if not for the fact that its neutral to cool undertone looks amazing when creating an ombre lip look with both.
On the eyes, maybe a simple black MAC eyeliner, or, if you want to create a monochrome look, some kind of dark purple eyeshadow?

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Stone Lip Liner
For more of a grunge look, swap the Nightmoth lip liner for MAC Stone.
Although the Stone lipstick doesn’t exist anymore, I still love using the MAC Stone lip liner all over my lips.
There’s something about greige lipsticks I still haven’t gotten over with – I’m a 90s baby, after all!
The Stone lip liner with the Ruby Woo lipstick has to be blended seamlessly, otherwise you might end up with a bad taste kinda look.
What I would also do with those is apply some Lipglass in Clear on top, to really emphasize the lip look.
On the eyes, some really neutral brown eyeshadow so the eyes don’t take the spotlight away from the lips.
On the cheeks? Maybe some really neutral blush for fair skin, like Harmony.
On medium or dark skin, some really desaturated plum blush, maybe?

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Half Red Lip Liner
If you like the way the Nightmoth lip liner looks with the Ruby Woo lipstick but want something a bit more wearable, try Half Red.
I’ve actually swatched most of the MAC lip liners in my huge guide to 29 MAC lip liner shades, and Half Red is one of my favorites.
It looks a lot like the Soar lip liner, only redder and darker.
Really blend the Half Red lip liner with the Ruby Woo lipstick; you don’t want any harsh spots or it will ruin the look.

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Cyber World Lip Liner
If you like the Nightmoth lip liner with the Ruby Woo lipstick but would actually like something a bit cooler-toned, try the MAC Cyber World lip liner.
It’s a really dark, really blue-toned purple lip liner, and it’s one of the best when it comes to pairing famous purple MAC lipsticks.
From Flat Out Fabulous to the Heroine lipstick, Cyber World can work well with lots of purple, pink, or even nude MAC lipsticks.
Again, blend really well between both colors – you can’t have any harsh lines showing unless you’re going for a really grunge look.
If you’re going for a grunge look, maybe create a smoky eye with some dark silver eyeshadow?

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Burgundy Lip Liner
As you can see so far, we’re using a lot of the best plum and purple MAC lip liners to pair with the Ruby Woo lipstick.
Another one of the easiest to match with Ruby Woo is the Burgundy lip liner, none other than one of the best MAC lip liners for dark skin.
It’s not only amazing with the Ruby Woo lipstick but also lots of beautiful, muted, mauve MAC lipsticks.
With this one, I’d probably apply the Burgundy lip liner all over the lips, and just dab Ruby Woo slightly.
The process would be as follows:
- Apply some lip primer
- Apply the Burgundy lip liner all over the lips
- Apply some lip balm
- And then dab the Ruby Woo lipstick on top

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Vino Lip Liner
The Vino lip liner is a simple, really purple lip liner that also looks amazing with the Ruby Woo lipstick.
I would use this lip liner with Ruby Woo if I really wanted to go for a red eyeshadow look, for instance.
I’d really only use the Vino lip liner for shading around the lips, maybe even only on the outer corners.
That would definitely be the moment to use the Lipglass in Ruby Woo on top, too!

Best Lip Liner for MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick: MAC Plum Lip Liner
If you end up loving Half Red with Ruby Woo, chances are you’ll love using the Plum lip liner too.
The difference between the two is that the Plum lip liner boasts even less red than the Half Red lip liner.
It’s much more of a desaturated, almost brown lip liner, but still shows up as kind of purple on the lips.
It’s another one of the best MAC lip liners for the Ruby Woo lipstick, and easier to wear than, say, Cyber World or Stone.
